Enterprise Project Management Office
The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) provides portfolio and Project Management of key ADOA-ASET Projects (Strategic & Operational Projects). The EPMO also strengthens program and project management within ASET overall and supports strengthening these fuctions for all State agencies. Members of the EPMO share common tools/templates and follow national best practices. Further, EPMO Project Managers manage projects to all State processes (PIJ, ITAC, JLBC, APF, APP, HRIS, AFIS, Lean,ITSC, budget cycle).
EPMO provides direct project management services on an as requested basis. Project Managers are change agents that follow processes of planning, organizing, motivating and controlling resources to achieve specific goals applying Waterfall, hybrid, Lean and Agile methodologies. Project Managers provide project status in a variety of methods and time periods to communication with sponsors and stakeholders. Regular team meetings and huddleboards are facilitated to exchange information about issues, requirements, status, and strategic direction.
EPMO manages $40million in projects for ADOA-ASET on an annual basis applying process improvements throughout the year. EPMO Project Managers are available to agencies to assist with their projects on an hourly rate basis, as a service.
EPMO fosters best practices in project management through offering educational materials, trainings and supporting study groups. We have created a statewide IT document template repository that is available to all agencies and political subdivisions. Please contact for access.
The ASET-EPMO hosts the State of Arizona Project Management Center of Excellence (PM COE). PM COE fosters project and program management best practices in Arizona State government. The cohesive association of project managers from state agencies supports each other in transforming IT Project Management in AZ State Government. The PM-COE, through multi-agency workgroups, created an online Project Management Document Template repository with project management documents from state agencies that have more robust PM practices. Through the repository, these PM templates are now accessible to all State of AZ agencies and political subdivisions.
Our training sessions are open to all Arizona State and political subdivisions employees. Examples inclue our PMP study group and lunch and learns.
PMP Study Group
The PMP study group is designed to help State agency personnel who are interested in achieving their PMP certification with the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMP certification is not required by statewide policies or standards, but it is a preferred national project management credential. The PMP Study Group is facilitated by a member of the ADOA-ASET EPMO. For more information, email [email protected]
Lunch & Learns
EPMO and the PM COE facilitate Lunch & Learn sessions to address current Project Management topics. All are welcome to join for BYOL and discussions.
Educational Materials
The PM COE has developed a Project Management Education and Training Guide with a host of different project management training and education resources – including free or low cost webinars and online or in-person courses offered by a variety of providers (state agencies, local community colleges, technical schools, industry leaders, state contractors, etc.). The Guide is useful for project managers at all skill levels (beginning, intermediate and advanced) as well as state agencies interested in advancing the knowledge of their staff.
