An eSign or electronic signature is a legal concept distinct from digital signatures. Electronic signatures provide a secure and accurate identification method for the signatory to provide a seamless transaction on a digital form. For most processes that currently require a “wet signature”, an electronic signature is legal, sufficient and can be used (a digital signature is not necessary). Refer to the e-Signature Policy and Revised Revised Statute.
eSign enables an agency to post business forms on their website, allowing customers to fill out and sign forms with ease in a browser based application. There is no additional software or applications that customers need to install. Agencies can also send out forms and set up a workflow, enabling all parties who need to review and sign the documents to do so with ease on their computer, tablet or phone.
eSign provides a service to reach customers anywhere, anytime on a secure platform. Also, moving to a digital platform reduces the environmental impact of printing forms. Last year, the state saved an estimated 21K pounds of wood, 57k gallons of water, and 138 hours of production by moving to an electronic signature platform.
Agencies interested in utilizing Adobe Sign should complete the Enterprise Software Request Form.
