The Arizona Department of Administration is legislatively chartered with evaluating and monitoring IT projects across the State with $25,000 or more in development costs. Once approved by the State CIO or by ITAC, with or without conditions, the Strategic Oversight team is responsible for monitoring the status and progress of the projects, which includes periodic review of expenditure and activity reports provided by ABCs that indicate how project risks, issues, schedule, and costs are being managed. The business case is needed to help decision-makers ensure a proposed IT project or investment has value to the public and the State, and is consistent with approved Strategic IT Plans. In addition to describing project goals and objectives, the business case should establish a specific time period for development, and identify resource requirements, associated technologies, and costs for both the implementation and ongoing operational lifecycle, as well as any risks and issues that may be associated with the project. Strategic Oversight provides the following services in this area:
