Statutes and Rules

The State of Arizona established a Government Information Technology Office by statute to house the State Chief Information Officer (CIO) and related functions. This Office is managed by the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) and reports through the ADOA Director.

The Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology (ASET) division within ADOA is responsible for statewide technology policies and standards for all state agencies, boards, and commissions. Additionally, all agencies must have any significant IT projects reviewed and approved by ASET. Further, the Information Technology Authorization Committee (ITAC), which is staffed by ASET, is required to approve any projects by state entities that are projected to cost over $1 million. Furthermore, ASET collects annual IT plans from all state entities and establishes a strategic statewide IT plan for Arizona state government.
